- At Margaret J. Kay & Associates we specialize in brief,
results-oriented psychotherapy approaches designed to achieve maximum benefit in a minimum
of time.
- With specialized training in cognitive, behavioral, and family systems approaches to
intervention, our psychotherapeutic staff are committed to the health and well-being of
each client.
- Margaret J. Kay, Ed.D. is a licensed psychologist with over 25
years experience as a psychotherapist. She is a past Fellow & Diplomate of the
American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and has received extensive training in NLP,
EMDR, clinical hypnosis, family therapy, behavior
modification and abuse intervention.
- Dr. Kay received her
EMDR Level I training at
Temple University in 1991 with Dr. Francine Shapiro, the originator and developer of
EMDR.
Following years of successful
EMDR
intervention with automobile accident victims, rape and trauma victims, and persons
suffering from phobias, panic disorders and
anxiety attacks, Dr. Kay returned to Temple University
in 1997 to obtain her Level II certification in EMDR with Dr. Shapiro.
- Hailed as the most important method to emerge in psychotherapy in decades,
EMDR has been successfully used to treat
complex psychological problems including
depression,
phobias, recurrent nightmares,
PTSD, and long-standing grief.
- The four most recent rigorously controlled studies now published or in press have shown
that 84-90% of single-trauma participants no longer have PTSD symptoms after only three
EMDR sessions. Currently, an "EMDR for PTSD" video is being released in the American
Psychological Association psychotherapy series.

in decades."

at the Menninger Clinic."
Bulletin of the Menninger Clinic
"I am the Assistant Director of the Victim/Witness Service Program in
Lancaster County...I have sent Margaret Kay challenging referrals...all the victims of
serious crimes. I sent these clients to her with confidence, because she is not only
a very well-qualified therapist using a variety of skills, she is also very ethical...The
feedback I get from victims has been very positive. I have seen many remarkable
changes in them. The most enlightening of these changes are the feelings of
empowerment emanating from therapy with Margaret. She conducts herself in a very
caring way with the victims, and is very supportive to the extended families."
Barbara
Wash, Assistant Director, Victim/Witness Services, Office of the District Attorney of
Lancaster County
"Perhaps what is most outstanding with respect to Dr. Kay's persona is her
mature disposition. She displays a remarkable professionalism...Her dedication to
her profession and the well-being of others is truly noteworthy."
