Margaret J. Kay & Associates provides:

Bonita A. Shafer, a graduate of Millersville University and a certified Reading Specialist, is skilled in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading, spelling and writing to dyslexic individuals. She has also received post-graduate training at the Bryn Mawr College Child Study Institute in the Wilson Reading System. Student and adult clients with language-based learning disorders, such as Dyslexia, Tourette Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, and specific learning disabilities receive intensive, individualized instruction to upgrade skills using proven techniques and remedial methods.  Intervention is geared to meet each individual's unique learning needs in a relaxed and professional setting.

  • We are approved providers for the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).   Referrals to our specialists come from colleges, schools, parents, educators, physicians, psychologists and therapists.
     
  • Our tutorial services are geared to remediate the specific academic and cognitive skill deficits of disabled learners in the areas of reading decoding, reading comprehension, spelling, written language, mathematics reasoning, mathematics computation, study, test preparation, and memory.
     
  • All tutorial sessions are individualized with a 1-to-1 teacher-to-student ratio. 
     
  • Training is based upon a diagnostic-prescriptive teaching model using evidenced-based teaching methods and progress is evaluated monthly.
